The Banner: Will Jawando Scores Major Union Endorsements in Race for County Executive

Montgomery County executive candidate Will Jawando has secured backing from three local unions representing more than 40,000 Maryland workers.

The three unions—SEIU Local 500, 32BJ SEIU, and 1199SEIU—represent employees in property services, home care, school support, higher education, nonprofits, and child care. The announcement included a commitment from these labor organizations to campaign on Jawando’s behalf.

The unions described Jawando as an “easy choice among a crowded field.” SEIU 500 president Pia Morrison stated: “Will is a civil rights attorney, a father, and a friend to working families who believes in using his office to better the lives of the people in our communities.”

Jawando responded positively, saying he felt “grateful for their trust in me, and I won’t let them down.”
