I’m honored to be the Democratic nominee for Montgomery County Executive, and I’m ready to fight every single day for every resident of this county. I’m deeply grateful to Governor Wes Moore, Senator Angela Alsobrooks and the over 40 organizations who believed in our vision and for standing with us. Now the real work begins, and together, we’re going to deliver for every single person who calls Montgomery County home.
While we wait for the final results to be counted, we are confident in these trends. Voters across Montgomery County have made their voices heard, and their choice for County Executive is clear. Outside groups spent millions trying to define us before we could speak for ourselves, and despite that, we are winning because we made this a positive campaign about a shared future together, and not the negative, misleading politics of the past. This campaign was never about money. It was about real people. It was about the young family wondering if they’ll ever be able to afford a home here. About the small business owner who has a great idea to expand and just needs help to make it real. The young professional working two jobs to make rent, and the senior who has worked hard all their life, and wants to retire with dignity, safety and security. They’re the reason I ran, and they’re the reason we’re in this strong position today.
I want to thank everyone who knocked on a door, made a call, or talked to a neighbor. This moment belongs to you. I also want to thank my opponents for a hard-fought race and their commitment to this county we all love.
Montgomery County is the best place in America to live. I’m running to keep the Montgomery County promise alive for everyone. For too long that promise has been neglected for some and expanded for others. That time has passed. Keeping the promise means real investment in our schools. Housing that people can actually afford, and growing a robust and responsible economy. A zip code that never decides a child’s future, and asking those who’ve gained the most to pay their fair share so this county works for all of us.
We have a lot of work ahead between now and the general election in November, and I don’t take a single vote for granted. I will be a County Executive for everyone, including those who didn’t vote for me. To you especially, I make this promise: I will earn your trust through my actions, not just my words. I have never been more excited about the future we can build. Let’s get to work, together.
