For Immediate Release May 8, 2026

SILVER SPRING, MD — U.S. Senator Angela Alsobrooks has endorsed At-Large Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando for Montgomery County Executive.

“Will has been a friend for many years, but more importantly, he is the kind of leader we need right now,” said U.S. Senator Angela Alsobrooks. “Will is someone who knows how to fight, win, and deliver for working families. That’s why I’m proud to endorse Will Jawando for Montgomery County Executive. He will protect Montgomery County from the current Administration’s disastrous policies, fight on behalf of Marylanders in Montgomery County, and get things done for us.”

“I am deeply honored to have the endorsement of Senator Alsobrooks,” said Will Jawando. “Senator Alsobrooks has been a tireless champion for Maryland families, and she understands what is at stake in this race. Montgomery County needs a County Executive who will stand up to this Administration, protect our residents, and help keep costs down. I am ready to be that leader, and I’m grateful for her trust and support.”

Senator Alsobrooks’ endorsement adds to Jawando’s large and growing coalition of support heading into the June 23 Democratic primary. Earlier this week, Jawando also received endorsements from AFSCME Maryland, former Montgomery County Councilmember Nancy Navarro, and Our Revolution.

Jawando has been endorsed by organizations including the Montgomery County Education Association (Apple Ballot), CASA in Action, Metro Washington Labor Council AFL-CIO, American Federation of Government Employees, SEIU Local 500, SEIU 32BJ, 1199 SEIU, LiUNA, IUPAT DC 51, SMART, ATU Local 689, Working Families Party, Collective PAC, Progressive Maryland, Jews United For Justice Campaign Fund, NAPAC-DMV, and the Philadelphia/Baltimore/Washington Laborers’ District Council. An innovative policymaker known for addressing real challenges head-on, Jawando has earned a reputation for bold leadership and practical solutions that directly benefit Montgomery County residents. Born and raised in Montgomery County, Jawando is a civil rights attorney who previously served in President Obama’s White House. He is the first Nigerian-American elected to Montgomery County Council, where he chairs the Education and Culture Committee and serves on the Planning, Housing, and Parks Committee.
