Immigration: Protecting Our Immigrant Neighbors

Protect our immigrant neighbors from deportation, expand legal defense, and ensure everyone can access services without fear.

My Approach

My father came to this country from Nigeria. I know the courage, sacrifice, and dreams that define the immigrant experience because I grew up with it. Today, Trump's mass deportation agenda is tearing families apart and spreading fear through our communities. Parents are afraid to walk their kids to school. Workers are afraid to report wage theft. Families are being ripped apart. Montgomery County must be a safe and welcoming place for everyone, and I'll fight to make sure it stays that way.

What I Will Do As County Executive

  • Protect immigrant neighbors from Trump's attacks
  • Expand legal defense resources for families facing deportation
  • Ensure schools remain safe spaces for all children
  • Make county services accessible to all residents regardless of status
  • Strengthen rapid response networks to support families during ICE enforcement

What I Have Done

  • Sponsored the Montgomery County Trust Act
  • Stood with CASA and advocacy groups defending TPS and DACA recipients
  • Advocated for legal representation for immigrants facing deportation
  • Pushed back against anti-immigrant rhetoric
  • Supported emergency financial assistance for undocumented residents during COVID
