Small Businesses
Investing In Our Local Economy
90% of Montgomery County businesses are small businesses—the restaurants, shops, and services that make our neighborhoods thrive. But too often, government overlooks them while opportunities go to big corporations and out-of-county firms. Growing up with parents who are both small business owners here in Montgomery County, I know firsthand the long hours, the sacrifice, and the barriers entrepreneurs face. My mom runs a catering business; my stepdad runs a senior transportation service. I helped them both get started. I know firsthand that small businesses aren't just an economic engine, they're families betting on themselves.

Expand access to county contracts for local entrepreneurs
Increase hands-on technical assistance to help businesses navigate county programs
Strengthen programs for minority-, women-, and disabled-owned businesses
Secure access to local capital for businesses ready to grow
Cut red tape and reduce duplicative fees and regulations
Expanded county contracts through the Local Small Business Reserve Program (LSBRP) for local small businesses
Championed the Minority, Female, and Disabled-Owned Business Program, substantially increasing opportunities for disadvantaged businesses
Secured major funding to create the Black Collective, providing leadership, training, and resources to support Black-owned businesses and build generational wealth
