Housing
Produce, Preserve, Protect

I know what housing instability does to a family because I lived it. Growing up, my mom and I moved from apartment to apartment across Montgomery County searching for something we could afford. Today, too many families face the same struggle: housing costs are out of control, working people are being pushed out, and seniors who built this county can't afford to stay. I believe housing is a human right, and I refuse to accept a system that subsidizes luxury units while working families get squeezed out.

What I Will Do As County Executive:

What I Have Done:

  • Produce truly affordable housing near Metro and transit—not luxury units working families can't affordExpand Pre-K so every child starts ready to learn

  • Preserve existing affordable housing and help seniors age in place with dignity

  • Protect renters from displacement and predatory landlords through strong enforcement—and ensure developers pay their fair share

  • Authored landmark rent stabilization legislation, capping annual increases and keeping thousands of families in their homes

  • Voted to establish the $100 million Housing Production Fund, creating thousands of new affordable units

  • Introduced "More Housing for More People" (ZTA 20-07)—zoning reform to allow duplexes, triplexes, and missing middle housing near transit
