185,000 members — property services across 12 states

"Will Jawando is a proven champion for low-wage workers, who stands up to Maryland contractors and building owners who try to act above the law and mistreat the people who keep our economy running."

450,000+ caregivers — healthcare

"Will understands how important it is for our region to have a robust healthcare workforce. Healthcare workers are also worried about patient care access after federal Medicaid cuts. We know that Will shares these concerns."
— Ricarra Jones, Political Director

What Will Is Fighting For

  • Fair Wages & Strong Contracts — Led the largest prevailing wage expansion in Maryland history, ensuring workers on public projects earn family-supporting wages. Mandated local hiring on county projects.
  • Affordable Housing — Authored landmark rent stabilization legislation, capping annual increases and keeping thousands of families in their homes. Created a $100M Housing Production Fund. 1199SEIU specifically cited rent stabilization so workers can live near where they serve.
  • Fully Funding Schools — Fought for full MCPS funding, expanded Pre-K, and mental health supports for students and educators. Fully fund schools with smaller classes, more counselors, and modernized buildings — resonates with SEIU 500 school support staff.
  • Protecting Workers' Rights — Championed the Displaced Service Workers Protection Act, which prevents low-wage workers from being immediately dismissed when the contractor changes at their worksite. 32BJ specifically cited this re: janitors losing jobs when contractors change.
  • Healthcare Workforce — Work with local colleges to ensure more people have opportunities to enter the healthcare profession, helping to fix pervasive short staffing. Address federal Medicaid cuts to protect patient care access — 1199's key concern.
  • Investing in Families — Championed MoCo BOOST, a guaranteed income pilot providing 300 low-income families $800/month for two years. Advocated for Baby Bonds to build generational wealth for every child born in Montgomery County. Progressive taxation for working families.
"I'm proud to earn the endorsement of SEIU Local 500, SEIU 32BJ, and SEIU 1199. These unions represent the educators, building workers, and healthcare professionals who keep Montgomery County running. I've fought alongside them on the Council for fair wages, strong contracts, and safe working conditions. I'm grateful for their trust in me, and I won't let them down." — Will Jawando
